On April 12-14, Juneau will host the 2nd Think Tank of the Learning Inside Outside Network (LION). Outside guests to the think tank include Amy Jamgochian of the Prison UniversityProject in California’s Bay Area and Steve Shankman of the University of Oregon. The Friday afternoon event at Lemon Creek and all of Saturday’s events require preregistration. If you’re interested in participating, please register.

Friday, April 12

Education at Lemon Creek

1:00-3:00pm | Lemon Creek Correctional Center (pre-registration required)
*Please meet in Lemon Creek parking lot at 12:45.*

Discussion on (1) reports on education opportunities inside LCCC and community role toward supporting prison education, and (2) the meaning
and importance of higher education opportunities in particular. The plan is to highlight and privilege incarcerated voices and Flying U alumni.

Please leave your phone and smart watches locked in your car and mind Lemon Creek's dress code for visitors: Must wear long pants or a skirt below the knee; close-toed shoes and socks required; no scarves, hats, or hoodies; no clothing that is see-through, overly tight, or low-cut at the neck. No sleeveless tops.

Film Screening

4:00-6:00pm | Gold Town Nickelodeon (free and open to the public)

Screen Three Documentaries on (1) Flying University, (2) Prison University Project, and (3) Inside-Out – followed by community dialogue.

Saturday, April 13

ANDORE Dialogue: Resources and Obstacles

9:00am-noon | St. Anne's Parish Hall (pre-registration preferred)

ANDORE-Style Dialogue (I) on resources and obstacles to Higher Education in the prison.

Breakfast provided: Fruit, hot cereal/lowfat milk, scrambled egg whites, bacon, sausage
Beverages: Coffee, Hot Tea, Water (all day) Hot Chocolate and Orange Juice (breakfast only)

Lunch (catered)

12:00-1:00pm | St. Anne's Parish Hall

Food available: Sandwiches, mediterranean pasta salad, chips, and cookies. There will be a gluten free option and vegetarian options.
