We foster the expressive and transformative power of writing by connecting women as writers inside and linking the program with the writing community and continuing opportunities outside.
The Women’s Writing Workshop has grown from one MFA student’s mission to bring writing opportunities to incarcerated women in Fairbanks to a regular weekly 1 ½ hour writing session by a rotating group of women volunteers. We are always recruiting committed volunteers and are looking to network inside-outside writing exchanges. Get in touch.
- Voices Uncaged blog posts writing submitted by participants. Though anonymous on the blog, writers can let their outside peeps know when a piece is published: voicesuncaged.com.
- Fairbanks Community of Writing (C.O.W.) event – a letter exchange about institutional food.
- First Friday art exhibit at Trax Outdoor Center – featuring artworks (painting and writing) in collaboration with the OneTree project and viewers’ responses brought back to FCC.
